UK’s Master of Public Health (MPH) programs are internationally recognised and appeal to international students due to its comprehensive curriculum and the UK’s advanced healthcare infrastructure. Entry Requirements for a UK Master’s

There are various entry requirements to apply for a master’s program in the UK, depending on your chosen university and specific program. However, common requirements include: 

  • A relevant bachelor’s degree: Typically an Honours degree for those applying for a research-focused master’s program. The minimum grade requirement is 60-69%.
  • English language proficiency: Accepted tests include an IELTS with a score of 6.5-7 or a TOEFL with a score of 90-100. Generally this doesn’t apply to South African who have studied in English at university already.
  • Academic transcripts: Transcripts must be in English and must detail the courses taken and grades achieved from their undergraduate studies.
  • Letter of recommendation: South Africans may need to submit two or three letters of recommendation from academic referees who can attest to their academic abilities and suitability for postgraduate study.
  • Specific course requirements: Some programs such as business, law, or health sciences, may have additional requirements, so always check the specific entry requirements for the chosen program.
